THE ART OF THE END OF THE WORLD IN 2012 NEW YORK. On 21st December, midnight in London, 7pm in New York City, the Streaming Museum will be launching the project The End of the World, created by Emanuel Dimas de Melo Pimenta, who joins seventy-one artists, musicians, photographers, philosophers and poets from eleven countries. Pimenta, who worked with John Cage and Merce Cunningham over several years, and has more than fifty books and cds released worldwide, started this project in the second half of 2012. "Very inspired by the Mayan prophecies, people started talking about a possible end of the world, so I thought it would be a very interesting moment to put together creative minds from different countries, from different societies. The fascinating end result is a kind of image of the zeitgeist, of the spirit of an epoch". The guest artists were informed only about the title of the work, and had no contact with each other. Then Pimenta developed a mathematical system based on the Mayan vigesimal principle, which made possible the assembly of all parts in a forty-minute film that will be premièred in Dec 21st to the whole world, through the website of the Streaming Museum. The founder and director of the Streaming Museum, Nina Colosi, considers this a pioneering work in a new contemporary art wave. The Streaming Museum is a museum established in New York City that works not only on the Internet and in major theaters, but also in large public spaces around the world, like the Time Square in New York, or the Piazza del Duomo in Milan, Italy, among many others. "Then surely we will also publish a book, make exhibitions, but initially we are focused on the launch of the project, in December 2012" says Pimenta, for whom the reason to do such a project coinciding with the Mayan prophecy is due to "the fact that we are living in a time of great planetary transformation. We see the world increasingly more controlled and surveyed, as feared H. G. Wells, an increase of anti-Semitism, the increasing of poverty in Europe, in the United States, of the violence in Brazil, of internal conflicts in China. A ARTE DO FIM DO MUNDO EM 2012 NOVA IORQUE. No próximo dia 21 de dezembro, à meia-noite em Londres e em Lisboa, nove horas da noite no Brasil, o Streaming Museum de Nova Iorque estará lançando o projeto O Fim do Mundo, criado por Emanuel Dimas de Melo Pimenta, que reúne setenta e um artistas, músicos, fotógrafos, filósofos e poetas de onze países. Pimenta, que trabalhou com John Cage e Merce Cunningham ao longo de vários anos, e que tem mais de cinquenta livros e cds lançados em todo o mundo, iniciou o projeto O Fim do Mundo no segundo semestre de 2012. "Muito inspiradas nas profecias Maias, as pessoas começaram a falar sobre um possível fim do mundo; então, eu pensei que poderia ser um momento muito interessante para unir mentes criativas de diversos países, de diversas sociedades. O resultado final é uma espécie de imagem do zeitgeist, do espírito da época". Entre os participantes estão grandes personalidades como Augusto de Campos, Marco Bagnoli, Roy Ascott, William Anastasi, Maria Bonomi ou o cineasta francês Didier Feldman. Os artistas convidados souberam apenas do título da obra, e não tiveram qualquer contato entre si. Depois, Pimenta elaborou um sistema matemático, baseado no princípio vigesimal Maia, que orientou a montagem das peças num filme de quarenta minutos que será apresentado à meia-noite, no horário de Londres, para todo o mundo, através do site do Streaming Museum. A fundadora e diretora do Streaming Museum, Nina Colosi, considera este um trabalho pioneiro num novo cenário da arte contemporânea. O Streaming Museum é um museu criado em Nova Iorque que atua não apenas na Internet e em grandes salas de cinema, mas também em grandes espaços públicos em todo o mundo, como o Time Square em Nova Iorque, ou a Piazza do Duomo em Milão entre muitos outros. "Depois, certamente teremos a edição de um livro, exposições ou até mesmo um DVD, mas inicialmente estamos concentrados no lançamento do projeto, em dezembro de 2012", conta Pimenta, para quem a razão de se fazer um projeto dessa natureza coincidindo com a profecia Maia deve-se "ao fato de estarmos vivendo um momento de grande transformação planetária. Vemos cada vez mais o mundo mais controlado e vigiado, como temia H. G. Wells, um aumento do antisemitismo, aumento da pobreza na Europa, nos Estados Unidos, da violência no Brasil, dos conflitos na China.
