Marco Rapattoni brief bio. 2014
Marco Rapattoni was born in Pescara,
where he grew up surrounded by music. He studied piano and received
his diploma cum laude at the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia, in
Rome, while studying Architecture at the Università di
Roma, in Valle Giulia.
Later on he moved to the United States where he attended Indiana
University School of Music at Bloomington, studying piano, composition
and conducting. There he got appointed as the assistant of the
famous Hungarian pianist Gyorgy Sebok as well as to assist Franco
Gulli in Chamber Music.
He also collaborated with many world famous concert artists such
as Janos Starker and Joseph Gingold, hosting recitals, premiers
and executing a varied repertoire in conjunction with artists
from all over the world.
He collaborated with the Chicago and Bloomington opera house and
was also invited to various international music festivals from
the Baff Central Festival in Canada to the Ernen Musikdorf in
Switzerland. He received international prizes such as the Liszt
prize respecting the Lisztian Celebrations of Ferrara organized
by Aterforum.
He represented Italy in the Rassegna Pianistica Internazionale
"Stampa Sera" in Turin's Sala Grande of the Conservatory.
As a solo player he appeared with prestigious symphonic orchestras
such as the Rubenstein Philharmonic of Lodz, the Arturo Toscanini
Symphonic Orchestra, the Istituzione Sinfonica Abruzzese, the
Opera of Lione and Radio France for the festival of Montpellier
collaborating with conductors such as Gianandrea Gavazzeni, Massimo
De Bernart, Michele Marvulli, James Judd, Thomas Bugaj or Laszlo
Somogji .
With Budapest Chamber Orchestra he began to conduct and perform
as a soloist where he will continue to collaborate doing concerts
and recordings. He has recorded works of De Falla, Liszt, Bartok
and Janacek, specializing mostly in the historic 1900 repertoire.
He lead courses and seminars of musical interpretation and analysis
in prestigious national and international academies. Specifically
on musical semiotics and hermeneutics (Centro di Ricerca e Sperimentazione
per la Didattica Musicale di Fiesole, "Les Universaux en
Musique" - 4° Congrès sur la signification musicale
- Sorbonne Paris).
He held the position as the Artistic Director for many stages
and classes in Alta Formazione Musicale. Most noteworthy are his
collaborations in Piacenza with the Ensemble 900 mostly consisting
of first parts of the Filarmonica della Scala, in Florence with
the Maggio Fiorentino Formazione and in Milan with the Conservatorio
Verdi and Accademia della Scala.
He used his knowledge and experience to promote and host two inter-regional
projects as the Artistic Director called "Palcoscenico"
and the regional event "L'Abruzzo Fa Spettacolo" in
Abruzzo. These projects are aimed to train pianists, musicians
and opera singers in which the pedagogical system becomes an experience
of deep knowledge and intrinsic creativity for many young people
in schools and nontraditional institutions. As a highly versatile
artist across various disciplines, he has been responsible for
the musical section of the Galleria del Credito Valtellinese Pallazo
delle Stelline of Milan and of the project: "Arte, Segno
e Communicazione" for the Centro servizi per l'arte contemporanea
della Galleria Venticorrenti of Milan. His creative performance
in honor of Andy Wharol and John Cage remains memorable. He has
been invited to perform in the 52nd Biennale di Venezia to celebrate
the German Maestro Joseph Beuys by the curator LDDD, in the Spazio
Thesis, Nouvissimo Arsenale, where he participated in the festival
of contemporary music "Nel Segno di Joseph Beuys".
He taped for Rai and Radio France and has recorded under the label
ArKadia, Milan.
He is a full professor at the Conservatory Guiseppe Verdi, Milan
where he teaches repertoire and "prassi esecutiva pionistica".
For over 10 years he has collaborated in international events
with LDDD, the main expert in Joseph Beuys' philosophy and work.
For the German Maestro and other artists he has been creating
new concerts and the very different "Partiture Creative"
exhibited and published in prestigious Italian and foreign publications.
For 2013 a very important cultural event "Remember Joseph
Beuys" at the Kunsthaus Zurich. An event that will tour the
world.
