In 2002 Emanuel Dimas de Melo Pimenta started the project House of the Music
(Casa della Musica) in Bolognano, Italy. The project was entirely curated by
Lucrezia De Domizio, Baroness Durini.
The House of the Music - the house of the composer in Bolognano -
is a residence built in the year 1000, in the village of
Bolognano, in Abruzzo, very near the fabulous Maiela National Park. Outwardly
the House of the Music is fully preserved and the interior is contemporary, with
works by Emanuel Pimenta.
Since 2002, always when Emanuel Pimenta is at the village of Bolognano, every
morning, he performs a solo transversal flute concerto, with pieces by
Josqin des Près, Sammartini, Tartini, Pergolesi, Vivaldi, Marin Marais,
Michel Blavet, Bach, Handel, Telemann, Mozart, François Devienne, Beethoven,
Schubert, Theobald Böhm, Debussy, Faure, Jacques Ibert, Charles Koechlin,
Ravel, Philippe Gaubert, Prokofiev, Darius Milhaud and Tohru Takemitsu
among many others.
The program is always a surprise and each concert lasts one hour.
During the concert, Emanuel Pimenta is never seen - he plays inside the house,
and the music is heard through the streets of Bolognano, along with the sound
of birds and the forest.
