Conheci John Cage em 1985, na Bienal Internacional de São Paulo, onde ambos participávamos com concertos. Comecei a colaborar imediatamente com ele e com Merce Cunningham, e nos tornamos amigos para sempre. John Cage: O Silêncio da Música é a re-edição de um livro que escrevi sobre ele dez anos atrás, nas Ilhas Seychelles, em pleno Oceano Índico, a convite de Lucrezia De Domizio, a legendária Baronesa Durini, outra querida amiga. Agora, na nova edição, o livro tem cerca de 750 páginas; mais de 150 ilustrações - muitas das quais raras fotografias nunca antes publicadas; textos de Lucrezia De Domizio e do inesquecível filósofo da música Daniel Charles, grande amigo de John; a autobiografia de John Cage; uma lista das suas composições, dos seus livros, dos livros escritos sobre ele, assim como dos seus cds e discos; e também um inédito ensaio fotográfico de Flávio Matangrano, para além de fotos do genial Roberto Masotti entre outros. O livro é uma celebração de um grande personagem, um querido amigo, e um ser humano único. O preço deste livro é apenas o seu custo.

The first time I met John Cage was in 1985, at the International Biennale of São Paulo, where we both participated with concerts. I immediately started collaborating with him and Merce Cunningham, and we became friends forever. John Cage: The Silence of the Music is a new edition of a book I wrote about him ten years ago, in the Seychelles Islands, in full Indian Ocean, invited by Lucrezia De Domizio, the legendary Baroness Durini, another great friend. Now, in the new edition, the book has about 750 pages; more than 150 illustrations - many of them rare photos never published before; texts by Lucrezia De Domizio and by the unforgettable philosopher of music Daniel Charles, great friend of John; John Cage's autobiography; a list of his compositions, of his books, of books written about him, as well as of his cds and discs; and also an unpublished photographic essay by Flavio Matangrano, and photos by the amazing Robero Masotti among others. The book is a celebration of a great personage, a kind friend, and a unique human being. The price of this book is only its cost. |
